Cheap Shower Filters

Shower filters don’t have to be that expensive. As celebrity physician Dr. Oz said on an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show, you can take advantage of the great effects of a shower filter for less than nine cents a day. In fact, you can buy a shower filter for as little as twenty dollars, and even the most expensive of them don’t cost much more than two hundred dollars.

And even the most inexpensive shower filter will protect your skin and hair from moisture-removing contaminants that will sap them of their strength. Plus, tap water can contain all kinds of contaminants that can cause allergic reactions and aggravate skin conditions. For example, it often has chlorine that, when heated, can create clouds of harmful gas right in your bathroom. There are also pathogenic microbes and metals in there. And even if you think you’re not being exposed to such things because you do not drink tap water, what you don’t realize is that your skin will absorb shower water and thus the effect is almost the same as if you were drinking your shower water!

A couple items to keep in mind: if you’re concerned about the price when you’re shopping for a shower filter, don’t just look at the price of the filter itself but also see how much money the cartridges will cost. And remember to replace those cartridges as often as they need to be replaced–otherwise you’re not getting the real effects of the filter and thus you’re not getting the value for your money.

Chlorine Shower Filters – You Don’t Have to Splash Out

shower filters13 Chlorine Shower Filters You Dont Have to Splash Out

Here’s what you need to know about chlorine shower filters. First of all, chlorine filters for shower heads should also remove other hazardous contaminants, namely trihalomethanes (THMs),volatile organic chemicals (VOCs,) lead and copper. Most of the products on the market cannot do all of those things, because they don’t include the appropriate steps.

When I first went shopping for chlorine shower filters, I had already learned about the health and beauty hazards in our water supply, so I knew what I wanted. I finally narrowed my choices down to two systems. One cost over $200. One cost only $67.99.

Like many people, I usually assume that a higher price indicates higher quality. But that is not the case, in this instance. The higher priced chlorine filters for shower heads are made by a company called Wellness. So, I visited their website and looked at their claims, but then I did my own research.

They claim that their chlorine filters for shower heads “imbue” the water with health-giving abilities. This is relatively impossible.

Simply removing chemical and organic contaminants does make your water healthier, but you can’t really “imbue” it with anything. They claim that by running your tap-water over rare Japanese stones, the quality of those stones will be passed along, into the water.

That’s just not possible. The waters of our world have a natural mineral content because they sit in the ground or above it for many years. Some minerals become dissolved in the waters. So, you find the presence of things like lead, a naturally occurring but hazardous heavy metal, calcium, which is present in a variety of rocks and stones and sodium, which is one of the most common minerals in the world.

What you don’t find is water that has antibacterial or anti fungal activity. That’s what the Wellness company claims that their chlorine shower filters do. They claim that your water will act as an antibacterial and an anti fungal agent. It’s just not going to happen and it’s a lot more than you need to pay.

Then you will find the numerous chlorine filters for shower heads that only reduce chlorine-content by about 50%. They do nothing to remove THMs, which are present in any publicly treated supply, are absorbed through the skin and cause cancer.
The run-of-the-mill chlorine shower filters do nothing to remove VOCs, which are present in most supplies, are absorbed through the skin and cause numerous health problems. They don’t even remove lead and copper which dull the hair and the skin, as well as stain your fixtures.

You can and should get effective chlorine filters for shower heads in your home. You just don’t have to pay a fortune for them. $67.99 gives you everything that you need. If you want to pay more, invest in one that has a removable massage head, so that you can fill the tub for a bath in what is effectively natural spring water.

Now, you know what to look for in chlorine shower filters and you know that high price does not always indicate high quality.
